For visitors to our area, Madison is a charming town just 15 minutes from our store in downtown Skowhegan. Downtown Madison is nestled on the Kennebec River, close to the scenic Kennebec Highlands, and nearby Lake Wesserunsett. The “jewel” of Madison is the stunning Lakewood Theater located off the Western Shores of Lake Wesserunsett. Founded over 100 years ago, it is the oldest summer theater in the United States. In the 20’s and 30’s it was one of the major off-Broadway stops and now hosts the community theatre group Curtain Up Enterprises.
